Hundreds attend PSJA ISD 25th Annual College Night

PHARR, TX – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) hosted its 25th annual PSJA College Night on Oct. 1, 2024, where hundreds of students and their parents met with over 70 college, university, and military recruiters.

Since 1999, PSJA College Night has allowed PSJA students to meet with university representatives from institutions from across the state and nation and get important information regarding the college admission process, financial aid, and scholarships. Held at the Pharr Events Center the event provided students and their families with invaluable resources and insights into the college admissions process.

For Manelly Zepeda, PSJA Memorial Early College High School Class of 2025 senior, attending the 25th Annual PSJA College Night was an insightful event that opened her eyes to the many schools and opportunities she hadn’t previously known about.

“I gained invaluable information about how different universities can support my future career goals, including study abroad programs and scholarships,” said Zepeda. “PSJA did a wonderful job hosting this event, as it changed my perspective and deepened my excitement for future possibilities.”

In addition to exploring college options, attendees also had the opportunity to meet with military recruiters who provided students with information about career opportunities and educational benefits available through military service.

“PSJA College Night is more than just an event, it’s a pivotal moment for our students to ask questions and get ready for the next chapter in their educational journey,” said PSJA College Transition Director Carlos Garcia. “By connecting our students with different colleges and resources, we empower them to envision and achieve their post-secondary goals.”

PSJA ISD remains dedicated to providing students with the tools and resources they need to obtain post-secondary success. This year’s College Night reinforced the district’s mission of providing opportunities for all students, preparing them to excel in today’s global society,
